Offer other options apart from the PeduliLindungi app: House Speaker
Whatever new system or tool to use later, the government must ensure that the tool containing citizens’ personal data is waterproof
Jakarta (ANTARA) – House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani highlighted the importance for the government to provide other options to the public outside of the PeduliLindungi app.
“Thus, providing other options apart from the PeduliLindungi application is important for the government to guarantee the rights of citizens,” the Speaker of the Chamber in Jakarta noted on Monday.
Maharani welcomed the government’s plan not to make PeduliLindungi the only application for controlling access to public transport or to spaces.
Other protocols for citizens, such as the presentation of vaccination certificates and COVID-19 test results, must be implemented at the earliest, as they are important, she stressed.
“Every citizen, who owns a sophisticated or less sophisticated smartphone, even those who do not have a ‘smartphone’ must have the same rights of access to public spaces and to transport,” she said.
Maharani called for giving top priority to all options offered by the government, except for the PeduliLindung app which guarantees the protection of citizens’ personal data.
Indeed, all mechanisms must use the unique identity number as the main data, she noted.
“Whatever new system or tool to use later, the government must ensure that the tool containing citizens’ personal data is waterproof,” Maharani said.
The President of the Chamber needs this guarantee, so that no one is harmed due to the leakage of their personal data.
Maharani felt that ensuring the protection of personal data was also important, as the government had involved the private sector to integrate the PeduliLindungi application system with other private application systems.
“Collaboration with the private sector in the form of system integration must have clear rules, so that citizens’ personal data can be properly protected and not fall between irresponsible parties, such as illegal online lending, etc. “, she underlined.
Maharani reminded all parties, such as government and the private sector, to pay special attention to the protection of citizens’ personal data, while the House of Representatives and the government discussed the draft protection law. personal data.
The Speaker of the House urged the government and the private sector to educate the public on the protection of personal data. This measure must be taken, so that people have a good understanding of the measures necessary to take in the event of a leak or misuse of their personal data.
