Animal Crossing: New Horizons expansion revealed during Nintendo Direct
Over 18 months after its original release, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is finally getting another expansion, but we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out what it’s all about. At a minimum, we know it will feature the return of Brewster, a fan-favorite character that dates back to Animal Crossing: Wild World on Nintendo DS.
The trailer shown on today’s Nintendo Direct offered only a very brief glimpse of a new expansion to the museum, which will include Brewster’s Cafe. Nintendo will reveal a lot more about the expansion at a future event in October.
What’s going on, this content update is long overdue for Animal Crossing fans. While Animal Crossing: New Horizons has introduced several new features since its launch in Spring 2020 – including new characters, events, and the ability to go swimming – some 3DS game features are still missing.
Despite this, Animal Crossing: New Horizons was an incredible success for Nintendo, selling some 31 million copies in less than a year. It has been described as the quintessential pandemic game, its healthy community building makes it kind of an international obsession during a time when people are stuck inside.
While many have since left to play other games, the new expansion will hopefully be a great reason to come back. It comes out in November. In the meantime, here’s our full recap of today’s Nintendo Direct.
